Seventh Grade Math &
Science
Pre-Algebra
(a required one-year
course)
This course stresses
determining the solution
to equations and
inequalities, analyzing
properties of real
numbers, manipulating
rational numbers, and
simplifying exponentials
and polynomials. This
course is designed to
reinforce
problem-solving and
critical thinking
skills. Topics in
statistics, probability,
logic, geometry, and
measurement round out
the course. Math study
skills such as
organization,
note-taking and test
preparation are once
again reinforced.
Pre-Algebra Accelerated
(a required one-year
course)
Pre-Algebra Accelerated
is an advanced course
for seventh graders.
This year-long course
will prepare students to
enter Algebra I. The
focus of the course is
on building the
foundation necessary for
success in the study of
algebra. Students will
become familiar with the
following: properties of
mathematics; algebraic
terminology; solving one
step and two step
equations; adding,
subtracting, multiplying
and dividing rational
numbers and integers;
solving inequalities;
graphing equations and
inequalities; ratios,
proportions, and
percents; statistics and
probability; applying
algebra to geometry; and
the study of
polynomials. Students
will not only reinforce
their problem-solving
and critical thinking
skills, but delve deeper
into the various
concepts that are
studied throughout the
year. Math study skills
such as organization,
note-taking, and test
preparation will be
reinforced throughout
the year
Life Science
(a required one-year
course)
This class will focus on
two major topics. One of
which is cells- the
building blocks of life,
cell processes, changes
over time, bacteria and
viruses, protests and
fungi, and introduction
to plants. The human
body will focus on the
following systems:
skeletal, muscular,
circulatory,
respiratory, nervous,
and digestive. The
course will culminate
with a comparative
anatomy dissection of a
frog.
