7th Grade Visual Arts

The 7th grade curriculum combines the study of art with projects that explore various art media. Students experience art as both a means of expression and communication. Emphasis is placed on positive and negative space and the principals of design such as balance, unity, repetition, variety, rhythm and focal point. The course will include, but not be limited to, drawing, painting, collage, graphic design, photography, and printmaking. Writing about art will be included. Students will also have an overview of the basic periods in art history with an emphasis placed on the art of Rome.
