SMES Secondary School
Report
After filling out the
top half, bring your
college counselor one
form for each college to
which you plan to apply
(excluding the UC or CSU
system). We will send
this form with your
official transcript,
counselor letter of
recommendation and St.
Margaret’s school
profile to each of your
colleges. The deadline
to turn in these forms
to the college
counseling office is
October 1 for Early
Action/Decision
applications and
November 15 for Regular
Decision applications.
Online Applications
Common Application
The Common Application
currently provides both
online and print
versions of Freshman and
Transfer Applications to
more than 300
institutions,
representing the full
range of higher
education institutions
in the US: public and
private, large and
small, highly selective
and modestly selective,
and East Coast, West
Coast, and every region
in between. If you are
applying to a college
that uses the Common
Application we strongly
encourage you to use
their on-line version of
the Common Application.
University of California
The website and online
application for the UC
system is an extremely
important site. There is
no paper version of the
UC application. Students
wishing to apply for
admission to the fall
term must submit an
application between
November 1-30. All nine
undergraduate campuses
of the UC system share
this application; you
need only complete one
on-line application for
the entire system,
though a separate fee is
required for each
campus. You can find out
more about the different
campuses by clicking
here.
California State
University
This is the online
application for the
entire CSU system,
including Cal Poly San
Luis Obispo and Pomona.
There is no paper
version of the CSU
application. Most CSU
campuses allow fall term
applications to be
submitted between
October 1 and November
30. Select campuses will
allow late applications
on a space-available
basis. All 23
undergraduate campuses
of the CSU system share
this application; you
need only complete one
on-line application for
the entire system,
though a separate fee is
required for each
campus. You can find out
more about the different
campuses by clicking
here.
Arts and Athletics
NCAA Clearinghouse
If you are interested in
being recruited to play
sports at a Division I
or Division II college,
you must register with
the NCAA Clearinghouse
the summer before your
senior year. This
website explains how to
complete your
registration and will
also provide information
on Division I, II, and
III colleges.
Unified Application for
Conservatory Admission
This is a consortium of
high level fine and
performing arts colleges
that share a common
application. Many arts
colleges will have
representatives at the
NACAC Performing and
Visual Arts Fairs
this fall. If you are
interested in pursuing
music, dance, drama or
fine art, this can be an
excellent resource for
you.

please visit

We strongly recommend

“Test Optional” Colleges
There is a growing group
of fine colleges and
universities that are
becoming “test
optional.” In some cases
these colleges may use
SAT Subject test results
or a high school writing
sample in lieu of the
SAT or ACT. In many
cases they do not
require any standardized
test results in order to
be considered for
admission.
