College Placement

We expect 100% of each class to enroll in college. Typically, 95% to 99% of St. Margaret’s seniors enroll in a four-year college directly from Upper School. Some students choose to begin their college education at a California community college because the system provides guaranteed access to the prestigious University of California.

To get to specifics, students in the Class of 2007 applied to 193 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, England and Scotland.

  • Acceptance rate of all applications: 55%.
  • The acceptance rate for students who applied Early Decision/Early Action was 66%.
  • 95% will attend a four-year institution.
  • 4 students will attend California two-year colleges.
  • 53.5% will attend college outside of California.
  • 36% will attend a public university.
  • One student will attend a United States military academy.
  • Students will attend 56 colleges and universities.
  • 54% of the class applied to college as an Early Decision or Early Action candidate.
  • Colleges enrolling the most seniors include: USC (4), UC Berkeley (3), Georgetown (3), Stanford (3), and UC Irvine (3).
