Introduction
WHAT IS THE PARENT
TEACHER FELLOWSHIP (PTF)?
The Parent Teacher
Fellowship is a
volunteer organization
that provides support,
services and fundraising
to strengthen and enrich
St. Margaret's Episcopal
School (SMES). Our
members are dedicated
parent volunteers,
teachers, staff and
administrators. The
cooperative spirit among
our members fosters the
sense of family that
characterizes the SMES
community.
The PTF provides parent
volunteers for numerous
activities and events.
Among our
responsibilities are:
¨
Managing and serving the
Lunch Program (Grades
1-12)
¨
Bringing unique Cultural
Arts programs to campus
(all divisions)
¨
Planning and manning
Tartan Faire and
Scholastic Book Fair
(all divisions and
families)
¨
Hosting Friend-Raising
and
Friend-and-Fundraising
events (primarily for
adults)
¨
Managing the SaSS (Shop
and Support
SMES) program
(grocery cards and
eScrip)
¨
Welcoming new families
via our host
family/buddy program
¨
Providing each division
with parent coordinators
and class parents
¨
Providing hospitality
for many school events
and meetings
In addition, PTF
supports the library,
athletics, and the arts
directly through Friends
of the Library, Booster
Club and Arts Alliance
organizations. Parent
volunteers are essential
to the success of the
PTF and the many
programs and activities
that enrich our
children's educational
experience at St.
Margaret's.

To stimulate the minds
and the imaginations of
our children, to broaden

financial support into
enriching and expanding
the school's visual and
performing arts
programs.
BOOSTER CLUB

The Booster Club
supports SMES physical
development and athletic
programs at St.
Margaret's, benefiting
students from Preschool
through Upper School.
The Booster Club sells
food, beverages and
snacks and a variety of
great merchandise at
games and provides the
nucleus for parental
involvement and support
of the many sports teams
and activities for SMES
students of all ages.
Shop and Support SMES (SaSS)
PROGRAM
Chair: Carolyn Stephens
Everyone shops…and your
shopping can help your
school! Get your feet
wet by registering your
preference for SMES with
your local grocery store
online, or stop by the
Advancement Office for
forms. There’s also

LUNCH PROGRAM
Chair: Katie Smith
PTF parent volunteers
work together to ensure
that the students at St.
Margaret's are offered a
healthy, nutritious
lunch every day in a
safe, friendly, and
clean environment. The
variety of volunteers
encompasses on-site
management, director,
and aide positions, and
offers parents a way to
be involved for a day, a
week, or a year.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
PROGRAM
Chair: Robin Brenes
Red Ribbon Week -
October 23-27, 2006 - is
a nationally recognized
and celebrated event
that has become a
national symbol of drug
prevention. The Health
and Safety chair and her
committee organize
special events to raise
student awareness of
drug prevention. The
committee also supports
programs that educate
students on health and
safety issues.
PARENT EDUCATION PROGRAM
Chair: Tricia Raymund
Parent Education’s goal
is to help equip parents
for understanding our
children’s behavior,
peer pressure, and other
issues faced every
family. Parent Education
Forums throughout the
year bring respected
speakers on relevant
issues to SMES to
facilitate open
discussion. In 1999 SMES
Parent Education formed
Parents In Action, a
parent consortium of
seven local independent
schools, which presents
one nationally acclaimed
speaker per year,
rotating the location
among SMES, Harbor Day,
Pegasus, St. John's
Episcopal, Mariners, St.
Anne, and St. Mary and
All Angels.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
Chair: Brigid Landau
Assistant Chair: Deb
Lake
“Friends” sponsors two
annual on-campus events:
the Scholastic Book Fair
and the Used Book Sale.
They organize library
volunteers and the
Birthday Book Club, a
SMES tradition that
offers parents the
opportunity to provide
funds for a book
purchased for the St.
Margaret’s Library in
honor of the child’s
birthday.
